A new Joint Use Agreement regarding the sharing of joint use facilities will be effective September 1, 2008. The Agreement continues to support the sharing of publicly funded facilities to maximize benefit to students and citizens of the City of Edmonton.

The new Joint Use Agreement: Facilities is the result of negotiations that took place between the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Public Schools, Edmonton Catholic Schools and the Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord. The following are important points all principals and school staff should be aware of.

The new Joint Use Agreement: Facilities

• will promote and encourage the use of pools and arenas for school curriculum purposes;
• has a user friendly booking system available to all parties;
• will maintain existing levels of access to facilities;
• the school boards will communicate with their respective schools, while the City will communicate with community groups; and
• the agreement will be reviewed on a regular basis so that any issues can be addressed quickly.
